Having problems with your motor randomly shutting off, but the gauges and instruments are still working, this can be caused by a faulty ignition switch, here's a write-up that may save you a little money. This will work for many other Honda models and not limited to just the 3rd gen prelude.

1. You need to remove the steering wheel, and the bottom plastic piece around the steering wheel column, I would also removed the lower panel too access the zip ties holding the ignition switch wiring.

2. Remove you fuse panel cover.

3. Disconnect this connector from the fuse panel:

4. Remove the 2 screws holding the switch:

5. With the switch removed you now have to take the switch apart, there are little tabs holding the switch together. Use a few precision screwdrivers and remove, try not to break them if you can:

6. As you can see the contacts are very dirty. Take some sandpaper and clean the contact points, I used a dremel and a wire brush:

All cleaned up and shiny as new:

Clean up the top piece also and make sure when you re-install that the top piece is spring loading. This is how your key springs back when you start the car:

7. Your ignition switch should be working a lot better now that it is cleaned up, but I went ahead and re-soldered the connecting wires much like a main relay:

All done, now re-assemble.
