Front Rack Install

Turn the steering input pinion all the way to the right so the drivers side tie rod boot is fully compressed. Make sure the tie rod balljoints aren't installed yet.

Slide the passenger side into the subframe first and push it in as far as it will go. Lift the drivers side tie rod and try and get it to clear the subframe. Clearances are tight and you will need to play with the orientation of the rack until it will go in.

Install the rack bushings and C brackets but leave the bolts for the brackets very loose for now.

Screw in all the P/S hoses by hand so you can be sure you aren't cross threading them. You may need to pull or push on the lines to get the angle right for them to thread. Once the P/S lines have all been threaded by hand you can tighten them with a wrench:

Tighten the C brackets for the rack now.

Install the mud shield for the P/S lines.

Install the nuts and balljoints onto the tie rods.

Center the rack by counting lock to lock turns and halving that.

Center the steering wheel and slip the U joint down the column splines and onto the steering pinion.

Get the 4WS 4 way splitter ready:

Peek down right behind the rear engine mount and you will be able to see the 2WS 3 way splitter.

Get some long pliers and use them to reach down and remove the clamps and hoses from it. Another option is pulling the intake and air box to get at it.

Remove the 3 way splitter and install the 4 way:

Attach all the same hoses to it. For the new extra port run a hose down behind the subframe. A 1/4" I.D. hose should work:

I've highlighted the hose and where it plugs into the rack. If you don't have the original clips just use zip ties to secure it:

You should also attach the distribution shaft like shown in the picture. It only goes on one way so if its not wanting to slide on then rotate it until it does.

Install the downpipe, crossmember, and swaybar again. Install the tie rods onto the knuckles following the procedure in the online manual.
